Milo Djukanović,
He was the youngest Prime Minister in Europe. Elected to this office on February 15, 1991, on his 29th birthday. He discharged the office of Prime Minister for three consecutive terms until October 19, 1997, when he was elected President of the Republic by direct ballot. Elected Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party of Socialists in 1994. Elected Chairman of the Democratic Party of Socialists in 1998. Sworn into office as President of the Republic of Montenegro on January 15, 1998. He discharged this office until November 25, 2002, when as the leader of the ‘Democratic Coalition for a European Montenegro’, which had won the October Parliamentary election, he was nominated Prime Minister designate of Montenegro. He was elected Prime Minister on January 8, 2003.
He was the leader of the Block for Independent Montenegro. Under his leadership the citizens of Montenegro in the referendum held on May 21, 2006 took the historic decision to restore Montenegrin independence. Convinced that by restoring its statehood Montenegro has achieved its main political goal and that a convincing victory of democratic and pro-European forces in the September election has strengthened the foundations of the independent Montenegro, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanović in early October 2006 decided to step down from the highest government duties. He is now Chairman of the Democratic Party of Socialists and member of the Montenegrin Parliament.
